Pro-Union Preferred Partners Program Conditions, Terms and Requirements
Terms and Conditions (scroll down for Program Screening Criteria)
- Membership in the Pro-Union Preferred Partners Program represents an unprecedented opportunity to expose and promote your business or organization to the union community, but does not guarantee sales, union contracts, or other specific results. Success depends on many factors such as the nature, market demand, quality and presentation of your business/product/services.
- It is not required to operate within a unionized industry to participate in the program.
- Local unions, individuals, political officials, charitable, social, and non-profit organizations are also welcome and encouraged to apply for Pro-Union Preferred Sponsor status if you simply wish to support AFL-CIO endorsed programs and receive Union-Yes certification and exposure.
- Program Membership is annual (unless otherwise specified). Program Membership term begins upon successful remittance of your annual Program Membership dues. At the end of each 12-month Membership period you will be contacted for Membership renewal and recertification.
- By submitting a Pro-Union Preferred Partner (or Sponsor) application, you certify that your business/organization proudly supports union standards and is not on any active union or AFL-CIO boycott list, is not currently operating non-union in a unionized industry, and is not involved in any labor dispute that may cast doubt upon your pro-union status. You further understand that if it is discovered at any future time that your organization's pro-union or union status has changed such that you are no longer in full compliance with these Conditions, Terms and Requirements, you forfeit any membership fees already paid and your organization or business will be terminated from the program immediately, at the discretion of the Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO and/or PhillyUnions.com. All reports or complaints of anti-union or non-union activity or other violation of these Terms and Conditions will be thoroughly researched and confirmed prior to involuntary Membership termination.
- Submission of your Program Application does not obligate you to participate in the program. Your contractual Program commitment begins upon successful remittance of your Program Membership dues.
- Important: The majority of correspondence from PhillyUnions.com will come via email. It is your responsibility to notify us immediately if you change your email address or any other contact information. Email changes to info@phillyunions.com or call us at 215-333-7400. Be sure to check your email frequently to ensure you are able to enjoy all the benefits of your PhillyUnions.com Membership.
- Regarding scheduled placements and features (Premium and Charter Members): It is the responsibility of each Premium or Charter Preferred Partner to contact your PhillyUnions.com representative and schedule your monthly allotted email newsletter and web site ad features. Any allotted features not used each month will be forfeit and will not carry over. It is your responsibility to notify PhillyUnions.com and submit appropriate feature copy and information at least 7 days prior to the date you wish to use each of your scheduled features and placements.
- Regarding multiple Partners in each category: PhillyUnions.com has a dual responsibility in administering the Pro-Union Preferred Partners Program -- to give fair and proper exposure to our current Partners, while providing the most comprehensive pro-union/buy union directory we possibly can to our Philadelphia area union community. With these potentially conflicting goals in mind, we currently place a limit on the number of businesses we will accept in each category, but each Partner or applicant must understand and acknowledge that they can not expect to be the exclusive Partner in their business category unless they've specifically arranged and paid for this privilege with PhillyUnions.com management (not available in all business categories). It is the quality of each Partner's products and services that must set you above the rest. It is the same in any advertising medium; for example, during any given hour of prime time network television, you may see commercials for 4 or more competing car companies.
In fairness to pro-union businesses and to our unions and their members, once the limit has been reached in any particular category, we place new applicants to that category on a waiting list. At this time we are actively working on developing new Partnership levels that would allow new applicants in full categories to still enjoy a listing in our comprehensive Gold Pages directory and be available to our members while waiting for a full Partner slot to open up. We feel this is the best solution to this issue at this time.
- Regarding Union Leader Meet & Greet and Business to Business Networking Events: All event sponsorship fees go toward the event and/or PhillyUnions.com operating expenses and DO NOT go to any attending union/union leader or AFL-CIO officials. As in any networking situation, there is no guarantee that participating vendors will do business with attending unions.
Pro-Union Preferred Partner Applicant Screening Criteria:
- Must not be on any current union or AFL-CIO sanctioned boycott lists.
- Must not be rejected by current union community leadership for either operating non-union (if your business is in a unionized industry) or for intentionally promoting anti-union standards or practicing anti-union policies (if your business is not in a unionized industry).
- Must not be currently involved in a labor dispute with a union or other AFL-CIO affiliate.
- Political Pro-Union Preferred Partner Applicants should have an established history and record of supporting union interests and the union community. Acceptance into the program and listing in the PhillyUnions.com Political Pro-Union Preferred Partner List will be based solely on your Pro-Union/Union-Friendly record and your history of support for the union community, and not on your political platform, party, issues, or endorsements.
- Qualification requirements for Industry-Specific Union Companies: Must be in good standing for a minimum of one year; Have an above average record for safety; Must not be double breasted or have a history within previous one year of working non-union; Must not owe employees/union members or union back pay or monies pertaining to the benefits package for an unreasonable amount of time within one year of this application.
- Remittance of annual program membership dues. (Proceeds directly benefit important Philadelphia Council AFL-CIO endorsed programs.)
